Holiday Season

October 1st, 2008

I hope everyone is enjoying the fall weather and getting excited for the holiday season that will be here before we know it! Due to the renovation of my studio space and a few special projects I am currently working on, I will not be accepting commissions for the holidays. I will resume painting pet portraits in the new year. Please contact me if you would like to be placed on my 2009 calendar. Thank you! Stef

This is Ruby! I had to wait to post this picture since the portrait was a surprise gift. Wishing everyone a safe and happy 4th of July!

Kukla and Jack

June 28th, 2008

I was waiting to take a picture of the painting once it was installed on the client’s wall, but I will show you a picture of the painting I took with my iphone. This painting was a joy to paint, especially since I knew my subjects. Kukla and my lab, Abbey, were friends as puppies.
The clients were very pleased with the painting, but more importantly it won the approval of their two young boys Milo and Brice.

My next large modern painting will be of two spaniels, Ellie and Teddy. I have decided to wait on posting a price list for my large paintings, since the sizes and detail are custom. My modern paintings start at $500 for a 2′ X 3′.

My last portrait was of a cute character named Toulouse. I really enjoyed painting him because of his wild hairdo. It was a birthday gift and I just learned that the recipient loved the portrait. Oooh that always makes me happy!
Today, I am finalizing a sketch of Reggie, a 13-year-old black lab, that I was honored to meet in person/dog. I cannot wait to start painting this handsome boy. I will post the sketch soon.
Also, I am working on a modern action painting of a dog and cat, Kukla and Jack. It will be 4′ X 6′ in size, my largest painting to date. I have posted my digital mock up below.
Many of you have requested my modern painting prices, so I hope to have those on my website next week.

March 3rd, 2008

It has been a very busy year so far and I have several paintings on my easel. I will post pictures of my “work in progress” soon.

Sadly, our wonderful, loyal and handsome dog, Boone, passed away last week. He lived a fun, active and healthy life for 15 years before falling ill with Immune Mediated Hemolytic Anemia. For two weeks, he fought to stay with us but his poor body could not keep up with this terrible disease.

Everyone that was blessed to know Boone always felt he was more human than dog. He led his own life, many times taking himself to the park, catching possums that were playing possum, pointing, flushing and catching his own birds (without dad’s help), excavating major digs in the backyard, correcting his sister Abbey when she misbehaved and most importantly finding his daddy a wife and himself a mom. We miss him more than we thought possible, but he will live on in our hearts with many wonderful memories.

Thank you to Dr. Heather Hoch (Internal Medicine) and the support staff of South Paws ( for all the wonderful care you gave Boone.

Boone -we will always love you and miss you, until we meet again!
